Welcome
This site is managed collectively by the people of Verwood together with UK and international campaign supporters who are collectively known as the "Friends of Ringwood Forest".
We are concerned about the potentially damaging impact of Hampshire County Council's (HCC's) proposals for its Minerals & Waste Management Plan on the town and its surrounding countryside.
Purple Haze is a large sand/gravel extraction & landfill site which Hampshire County Council (HCC) proposes to locate south of the B3081 and in Moors Valley Country Park. Our opinion is that Purple Haze will have a significant & detrimental impact on all Verwood residents as well as the people visiting Moors Valley Country Park & Forest and Ringwood Forest.
Link to BBC news article about Purple Haze.
Blue Haze was a proposed extension of the existing HCC landfill site located north of the B3081. The extension was not required, in our opinion. The Blue Haze landfill, and its unpleasant side effects, was creeping ever nearer to the Town and would have further reduced access to Ringwood Forest. We campaigned against the extension and celebrated when HCC's proposal was withdrawn.
This site aims to provide information concerning the HCC proposals and the associated consultation & planning process.

We need to protect this beautiful forest, for its wild life and all its visitors. Make a stand against another gravel pit & landfill site.
